Creatures in a garden

Played catchup on some of the yard work today. The rain hasn't made it easy to play landscaper!  While pulling up a vine wrapped around a dead bush I was blessed to see this beautiful, bright green caterpillar looking thing, with a horn. The horn kinda startled me but I've never seen one like this so it was pretty cool.  It looked something like this:
Plus, it's always a blessing to learn about another one of God's creatures. So here's what I learned:

They are called Tomato Hornworms (possibly Tobacco Hornworms).  They turn into the Five-Spotted Hawkmoth. As you can gather from the name they eat tomato plants among others including peppers. This may explain a lot in the garden. Planting marigolds will help keep them away.  The horn is also for show to scare away predators, they don't sting. Very interesting indeed.
